BARANGAY Kauswagan has won the top prize of this year’s search for the most outstanding Lupon Tagapamayapa.

Kauswagan chair Pedro Balita accepted the P110 thousand cash prize and plaque from Mayor Oscar Moreno in behalf of the barangay yesterday.

Moreno handed out at least P330 thousand in cash award to the eight finalists during the flagraising ceremony at City Hall Monday.

The 2017 Search for the Most Outstanding Lupon Tagapamayapa has been organized by the City Office of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

This is the seventh time that Kauswagan bagged the award since 2010.

The first runner-up and the P90 thousand cash prize went to Barangay Camaman-an, the second runner-up and the P70 thousand cash prize was conferred to Barangay Canitoan.

Receiving P10 thousand prize money each, Barangay Nazareth at third runner-up followed by barangays Gusa, Patag, Bugo and Lapasan.

Balite told Gold Star Daily it has been their honor to be conferred with the award

Wala na gyud sila mo-abot sa korte kay ato man sila nga gi-amicable. Ang guideline lang sa DILG ang atong gisunod sa atong paghusay sa mga nag-away nga mga silingan,” Balite said.

He added that they will use the cash prize to build a waiting shed outside their barangay hall where the complainants and respondents could wait as they mediate their cases.
