AT least 22 houses that have encroached on the sidewalk of Valenzuela road in San Isidro, Lapasan were partially demolished by the Office of the Building Official yesterday morning.

Architect Concepcion Alcantara, OBO chief, said they demolished the structures for public safety. The Valenzuela road leads to the port area in Puntod.

“Ang atong tuyo ani nga ma-clear nato gikan sa mga illegal structure ang 1.5 meters space gikan sa road gutter,” Alcantara said.

Alcantara said they did not have to relocate the residents who were affected by the demolition.

“Wala ’tay gielocate kay ang atobangan ra man sa ilang mga balay ang atong gi-demolish.  Dili man entire balay, apan siempre, apektado gihapon ang ilang mga tindahan ug mga karenderya,” said Alcantara. (nitz arancon)
