Our journey began when friends, Jireh Cuarto and Caicai Quina saw an alarming video on social media about the immense presence of plastic wastes in the ocean. Upon research, they found out that land-based sources account for up to 80% of the world’s marine pollution, 60 to 95 percent of the waste being plastic debris, how this statistic is also true for the shores in Cagayan de Oro City. This marine debris also accounts for the death and pollution of marine life animals, reefs, and corals.

As settlers of Cagayan de Oro, they decided to take action and start in their own city. They posted an ad on social media scouting for fellow volunteers who share the same passion and vision with them to reset and save the ocean, one shore at a time. Hence, The Ocean Reset Project was created.

The social media post reached and ignited more volunteers, inside and outside Cagayan de Oro, to take part on helping and preserving ocean. Up to this writing,  The Ocean Reset Project has gathered 400+ volunteers who are passionate in helping them in their ocean clean-ups, community empowerment, and information campaigns and activities.

Join them on their mission to save the ocean, one shore at a time. Volunteer and become a Resetter today! (Press Release)
