Goking urges bizmen, property owners to respond seriously after getting an award

Cagayan de Oro City Council Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry chairman George Goking urged businessman and property owners to be serious in responding the call on prompt payment of taxes after Cagayan de Oro City was named as the country’s “Top 5 Most Competitive City” in the highly urbanized cities category.

Goking said he will again call the attention all business entity andproperty owners to be prompt in paying their taxes considering that the city government performance during the 6th Regional Competitiveness Summit organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) held on Thursday afternoon at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Metro Manila.

“Considering nga aduna na kita’y ranking nga mapakita sa katawhan ilabi na gyud sa mga negosyante then wala na usab sila’y rason nga magpasagad usab sa ilang kaugalingon,” he said.

He said under his committee, he would again call for meeting together with Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Oro Chamber) and the Misamis Oriental Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MOFCCCI) and other investors in the city to urged other business individual to promptly pay taxes and avail tax incentives offered by the city government.

“We might also tap this group in some other programs like Adopt a School Program and the implementation of their respective Community and Social Responsibility (CSR) they can offer,” he added.

During the nationwide contest, Quezon City is once again named as the country’s most competitive city, followed by Manila City and Pasay City as second and third placers, respectively.

President Duterte’s hometown, Davao City, came in fourth. Fifth placer Cagayan de Oro City outranked the country’s top financial center, Makati City,  which ranked sixth.

Rounding up the elite list are: Pasig City (7th), Bacolod City (8th), Cebu City (9th) and Muntinlupa City (10th).
