PORTIONS of St. John (District 1), San Vicente Ferrer Green Island (District 3), and D.S. Abejo Street (District 2), all in Barangay Puntod were declared as calamity areas due to fire incidents that occurred on March 5, March 10, and March 19, respectively.

The 18th City Council during its regular session this week, presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, adopted a resolution declaring this after receiving the final disaster report submitted by the City Social Welfare and Development Department and the fire incident certifications issued by the Office of the District Fire Marshal.

Based on the Final Disaster Report, fire damaged properties estimated at P9,000 in District 1, P2.6 million in District 2 and P700,000 in District 3. The grant of financial assistance to the calamity victims was recommended. (cio)
