CAGAYAN de Oro City stands to benefit from the “Glamourizing Farming through Urban Agriculture” project of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).

The City Council during its regular session Monday, enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the ATI and the Canitoan National High School for the purpose.

This is in line with the intention of all parties to “collaborate and create an environment that would bring back agriculture and urban gardening into the minds and hands of the youth”.

Pursuant to the MOA, the ATI shall provide orientation, seminar, training programs and extension needs of the target beneficiaries; provide basic gardening tools, protective equipment, and supplies for gardening; provide funds for the graduation ceremony and field day, among others.

Meanwhile, the City Agriculture Office shall hold initial coordination and identification of beneficiaries, provide one technical staff to work on the whole program; provide resource persons and lectures on the needed subject matters and encourage participants to apply what they have learned in their respective areas.
