Elaine Duran, 20, born and raised here, became the first to register 10 straight wins for the entire season of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” a noontime television singing competition.

On Saturday, she received the biggest point with a total combined average score of 97.57 percent, sealing her future as a grand finalist and winning an additional P400 thousand.

“Coming home after my win is still a lot to take in, I can’t describe the feeling until now. I still cannot believe that I have reached this far. But this visit is for everyone who believed in me and for the support, my way of saying ‘thank you,’” said Duran.

Duran was given a motorcade welcome by the Butuan city government and then made a visit to her high school alma mater, the Agusan National High School.

Residents here are hoping that Duran will follow the footsteps of singers like Jason Dy, who won in the second season of “The Voice” in 2015, and 2017 Michael Bolton’s Bolt of Talent champion Lance Busa who are both from Butuan City.
