ILIGAN City — There are several kinds of wreckers. There are the home wreckers, which mostly don’t refer to the wrecking or destroying the physical structures of a house. I mean, a home, because as a song goes, “a house is not a home.” Especially if there’s no one living there, the message in the song continues…

“A house is not a home, when the two of us are far apart, and one of us has a broken heart…”

Wait, I think I’ve gone astray, going far into the difference between a house and a home per message of a song, composed and sang by… never mind.

Let me go back to the point. Of wreckers. Me was talking about a home and how to go about wrecking a house, I mean a home.

Many of us have good and bad ideas of how to go about a once happy home. So, we’ll not dwell on that.

We’ll dwell on the political wrecker. Yes, the ones who wreck the political careers of some wannabes,  incumbents, and even the trying hards politicians.

So, we have now the Wrecking Crew of city mayor Celso Regencia et al (WC 1) and the Wrecking Crew of Rep. Frederick Siao (WC2).

Both names are incumbents but the et al of Regencia has more incumbents. Siao only has two or three incumbents, including himself.

The WC1 is composed of City Info Officer Jose Pantoja, Jun Lino Bacus, Ka Pops Libria et al.

WC2 is composed of Jun Enriquiz, Boy Altres, Boy Decena, et al.

It is said that putting others down, especially your “katunggali” is a “dishonest way of praising yourself.”

That’s what’s happening here, with WC1 and WC2 wrecking the opposite camp to their heart’s, if not their   pockets’ content, if you know what I mean.

There are other camps too, but they are not making any noise in the meantime.

The attacks or wreckings, pardon the term can be classified into hysterical, historical, financial, futuristic.

Hysterical: “My God, what has happened to the city’s finances? They have all but consumed all the money, like ‘nakuratan!’ All of them. Why have they paid P4.3 million for 87 lechons? Such waste of the peoples’ money!” Such outburst from WC2  is both hysterical and financial.

Historical: “Is he not convicted of graft and corruption and could not run anymore because of it?” From WC 1, which refers to Siao who had been convicted by the Sandiganbayan, along with former officials. The House though says Siao now belongs to another government branch and the conviction was during his term as a councilor. So…

Futuristic: “If Alemania will make it as a mayor, it will be his wife Madel who will run the city’s affairs.” This is of course from WC 1 referring to mayoral wannabe Marianito “Dodong” Alemania, whose wife,  Madel is singing the “Dodong” jingle of MMDA (“Magpakabana, Magtinabangay Dakbayan Alagaran,” they call it).

Still futuristic: “Madel will replace the Buhanginan Voices!” Still from WC 1. “Buhanginan Voices,” by the way is the city’s quarrel, I mean choral group which had been singing even when Regencia was not the mayor yet, dubbed as the fried, I mean pride of the city.

This is only a “patikim” and partial list of wrecks, not necessarily nervous. I know you have yours, too.
