THE provincial board yesterday approved a proposal to give Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano the authority to negotiate for a P2-billion loan.

This, despite the proposal being a last-minute addition to the agenda of the Misamis Oriental legislature.

Provincial board member Wayne Militante and Vice Gov. Jose Mari Pelaez locked horns over the inclusion of the proposal in the agenda.

Militante argued that the proposal was only meant to authorize Emano to negotiate with banks, and it was not an approval of a loan.

“Gikinahanglan kini nga resolution kay ma-o kini ang requirement sa Bureau of Government  Finance ug bisan sa Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Pero dili pa kini loan agreement,” said Militante.

Majority of the members prevailed. (Nitz Arancon)
