SOLDIERS from the Army’s 65th Infantry Battalion have discovered a cache of firearms and subsersive documents in Barangay Lirongan, Talakag town in Bukidnon.

The military discovered the cache during a combat clearing operation in the area at about 7:30 am last Friday.

In his report to 4th Infantry Division chief Major Gen. Ronald Villanueva, Lt. Col. Richard Rabaca believes the firearms belong to the New People’s Army since the cache was discovered in the vicinity of their abandon 20 x 30-square-meter hideout.

The soldiers were able to seize two M16 rifles, one M653 rifle, one improvised M79 grenade launcher, one caliber .45 pistol, ammunition for M203, and a rifle grenade.

The military also recovered UHF radios, blasting caps, batteries for an improvised explosive device, and subversive documents.

Rabaca said they were able to stumble upon the cache of firearms from an “accurate reports of a concerned resident of Talakag.”

“I admire the bravery of the concerned civilian who disclosed the significant information to us. The peace and order situation in our community is everybody’s concern. This year, let us double our efforts and help one another to end the exploitation and troubles made by this terrorist for us to live in a peaceful and develop communities,”  Rabaca said.
