Two-day first annual regional conference for the member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountant (PICPA) will be held here in Cagayan de Oro City starting today (Jan. 17) at  Grand Caprice Limketkai this city.

National Certified Public Accountant for Education and the conference chair Edwin delos Santos confirmed the event with the theme: “Future proofing the landscape of the ever changing world” during press conference Wednesday.

He said the event is supported by the Misamis Oriental Government.

Misamis Oriental acting provincial accountant Marilou Rivera said they are hosting the event as they schedule to showcase the products and tourists sites of the province.

Rivera said this is also the chance of the province since  the conference will be participated by Regions 9,10 and 13.

“We will present the best practices in Misamis Oriental with governor Yevgeney Vincente Emano’s flagship of transparency wherein the expenses of his projects up to the last centavos are all transparent,” Rivera said.

On today’s topics will go on to trend and robotics in accounting, according to Rivera.

“These are about trends and robotics,”  according to PICPA regional council head Ferdinand Rodriguez adding that there is a possibility twenty years from now that human accountants will be replace by robots.

“We are preparing the young ones for this possibility (referring to the robotics),” said Rodriguez.

Though not threatened for this possibility, delos Santos said that still they have to awaken everyone’s sense to be prepared for the upcoming revolution and to also acknowledged artificial intelligent.

This possibility if will be happening on the next 20 years will result to reduction of work and minimal requirement of human, said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez reiterated that topic such of this is not for them but for the future public accountants.

Another topic that they will be discussed is data privacy in terms of accounting and corporate house keeping.

Over 500 public accountants from education, government and private practice certified public accountants are expecting to grace the event.

“So we will have more discussions on technological advances and breakthroughs how to carry business,” delos Santos said.
