TRAVEL helps you realize the benefits of a slimmer physique once you’re walking at least 13,000 steps a day. Add to that the recovering knee—ouch!

Thus, there’s the new resolve to lose weight again, a resolution that did begin the moment travel plans started to grind. But with all the eating and party invites and even the popcorn while watching movies, weight loss may become a miracle waiting to happen.

By vacation time, your body weight will still be way up there, prompting your orthopedic surgeons and physical therapy doctor to react with a resounding, Que horror! Probably the only remedy left is to ask them to prescribe pain relievers. Tsk tsk.

If location, location, location are the secrets behind the success of real estate, good health is the secret behind a well-savored vacation, that’s why the young are advised to see the world while their knees are still strong enough to carry them around and allow them to enjoy the sights.

A tour is a rain-or-shine walking, with hands freezing since wearing gloves makes it harder to use a phone camera. Visiting a four-season place in summer can be the best option for people who live in tropical countries, but where’s the thrill there? Temporarily leaving the 35-degree-Celsius hometown to go to an equally humid place is so ho-hum.

So, no popcorn please while watching “John Wick: Chapter 3–Parabellum,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Aladdin.” But we did have popcorn for “Avengers.” Darn. Plus hotdogs, potato chips, and diet soda. Plus the dinners before and/or after each movie. Three movies in less than a week. Calculate the calories and don’t ask why your jeans don’t fit anymore the morning after.

These three films dwell on good versus evil, generosity versus greed, selflessness versus selfishness, which reminds me of a friend who would only buy, say, a new polo shirt to replace the old one that has seen better days. Nakonsensya ko’g kalit when he told me about that, because that was the time I was looking for the most comfortable pair of shoes for travel.

There was a collective and audible “Aah” from the audience when “A Whole New World” was finally shown onscreen for this live version of “Aladdin.” Lea Salonga was the one who sang that in the 1992 animated version, making it closer to the Pinoy’s heart then.

The “Aah” probably came from those who watched the film in 1992, and this time, we’re guessing they’ve brought their children or grandchildren with them.

“Aladdin” is a story filled with lessons for those who keep wanting more, never satisfied with the power and possessions they already have. Election 2019’s winners should watch it to teach them on what’s truly essential in life. Same lessons learned in “Avengers,” whose additional lesson was, Not all Marvel movies have post-credits scene especially when its titled as the “Endgame.” Operative word: end.

Well, we now tend to wait for post-credits scenes in any movie, including “Aladdin” and “John Wick.” Haha.

“Aladdin” is a feel-good movie, you will be smiling hours after watching it.

“John Wick,” on the other hand, may drain you with all its action scenes, while the latter part of “Avengers” may make you cry.

Watching all three in one day can give your emotions a rollercoaster ride, so, better take a break for a few days after each film. With the election still fresh in the Pinoy’s mind, and the inclusion of Bong Revilla as one of the proclaimed senators, the more the Pinoy needs a breather in between these movies.

Coming soon to theaters nearby are “Lion King,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

“Once” what? Uh, it stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

But watching movies in theaters can destroy your budget, much like the way treasure hunters can drain their gullible and greedy investors’ financial resources.

In the movie, Aladdin is warned to not touch the Forbidden Treasure and to take only the lamp from the Cave of Wonders. Should be the same warning, too, for treasure hunters who can easily con the gullible and greedy into believing delusions of grandeur.

Greed is a bottomless pit that can never be sated. As Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) said in “Interview with the Vampire,” “I want some more.”

Meanwhile, walk 10,000 steps a day as advised by some health gurus, eat less calories, and watch “Between Maybes”?
