A CAPITOL official yesterday warned those supporting the displaced villagers of Lagonglong town against testing the patience of Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano.
“Ang itoy nga matumban mamaak gyud,” said provincial legal officer Cerilio Neil Pacana.
Pacana said this as he responded to the threat of a human rights violation case over the capitol’s decision to demolish shanties erected by Higanonon families that evacuated to the capitol park from Mincamansi, Banglay in Lagonglong. The evacuees were forced to leave the park after capitol workers attempted to bring them back to Lagonglong.
Lawyer Czarina Musni, a member of the Union of People’s Lawyers in Mindanao (UPLM), warned that Pacana and Gov. Emano would likely be charged with human rights violation.
“Ila man nang katungod ang pagpasaka ug kaso. Amo lang hulatan ug unsa gyud,” said Pacana.
But Pacana said Musni and others who were criticizing the capitol were being unfair to the capitol officials.
“Ang ilang gilabanan (evacuees) violated many things, and we don’t want to file any case kay di gusto si Gob (Emano) og samok,” Pacana said.
He said one of the violations was the building of structures at the De Lala Park itself.
Pacana said he was worried because a human rights violation case could provoke Emano into fighting back. “Ang ako lang nga di pud ma trigger si gob kay remember, ang itoy nga matumban mupaak man gyud.”
Meanwhile, Pacana said that since the capitol cleared the park this week, the capitol has not been in communication with the evacuees from Mincamansi led by Datu Reynaldo Ayuma.
According to Pacana, the group’s leaders, including Ayuma Jhunereyboy Hilogon, were no longer answering calls from the capitol’s social welfare and development head.
Pacana said Emano has given instructions to give the evacuees 47 sacks of rice.
“Wa gyud mi kabalo ug asa sila,” said Pacana.
He said the capitol also want to deliver personal belongings left behind by the evacuees.
