OPERATIONS and Research division from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department underwent a weeklong Geographic Information System training recently to strengthen their capability and proficiency in geo-tagging especially in flood-prone areas.
Retired Col. Mario Verner Monsanto, CDRRMD overseer said geo-tagging or demographic profile is very useful in identifying those vulnerable sectors that need immediate consideration during calamities.
Monsanto said the training also aims in crafting and formulating flood maps for flood prone areas in the city. (cio)
