THE military, police and various regional line agencies of the national government would counter street demonstrations that activists and civil society groups could stage in the city in time for President Duterte’s fourth state-of-the-nation address today with a concert and medical mission in Divisoria.

Camp Alagar spokesman Lt. Col. Mardy Hortillosa said musicians from the National Police’s regional office and the Army’s 4th Infantry Division would perform during a “Sona peace rally” here.

“We have singers and bands from the police and Army who will be entertaining. At the same time, government medical personnel will also be conducting their own medical mission,” Hortillosa said.

There would be tooth extraction, medical and dental checkup, among other free services, he said.

“This is our way of countering the protest actions that might happen during the Sona,” Hortillosa said.

He said some regional offices of government agencies have already confirmed their participation in today’s peace rally.
