Department of Trade and Industry acting provincial director Almer Masillones slapped two of the stores with a “show cause” order, and two others with notices of violation. At least two of the grocery stores are located in popular malls.

Officials said the names of the establishments would be withheld until their managements have responded and explained.

The violations were noted by representatives of the DTI, Cagayan de Oro City Price Control Council and the city council’s committee on trade, commerce and industry when they inspected seven malls and groceries here.

Inspectors said some grocery items have no price tag which is considered a violation of the law.

Masillones said the establishments have five days or until next week to respond.

“After sa notice of violation, formal charges and domestic proceedings will follow. Ipatawag man ang management or tag-iya sa tindahan,” she said.
