During a brief visit to Misamis Oriental, Marcos said she was thinking of seeking a Senate seat because it was unlikely that her brother, former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., would drop his election protest against Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo.

She said her family has already discussed the plan.

Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano expressed his support for the 62-year old Marcos whose father, the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the governor’s father Vicente fought in the ’80s.

Emano said many governors have asked Marcos to run for senator.

He said Marcos’s experience as leader of the now defunct Kabataan Barangay during the Marcos years and her being a Ilocos governor governor are plus factors.

“Sa inyong namatikdan, halosa tanan naglingkod nga senador wala nag agi sa local government unit, dili kasabot unsay panginahanglanon sa mayor, sa gobernador, ug panginahanglan sa kapitan,” said Emano.

Marcos said her plan is to improve the country’s public transport system, address problem on traffic jams, improve connectivity and communications, keep the prices of basic commodities reasonable and affordable, and generate employment.
