I have been using the GoPro Hero4 for over 3 months already. I’ve used it on my mountain climbing, mountain biking, swimming escapade and even on a drone. It’s also my all around handy camera as well. This simple review is based on what I experienced out of it.
Construction
The construction is so basic, small rectangular box, it’s almost the size of a matchbox; the camera lens and small LCD are exposed up front, 3 buttons for controls, mic, speaker, memory slot, charging port and battery slot. The unit itself is fragile, but when inside the included protective waterproof housing, makes it sturdy and rugged.
Camera Quality
The video quality is great, I tried it underwater, in the rain, lowlight, and even at night. Photo quality is good. But the bad news is, when enlarging it to its actual size will show artifacts or noise. In addition, I always have a blurred result when taking photos in lowlight.
The thing that I love about the camera is, it uses a wide angle lens which creates a fisheye effect that gives an interesting perspective of the pictures.
Battery Life
Battery life is not great. It’s too short that I always end up getting low battery in the middle of my activity. Sometimes, I have to skip capturing moments intentionally only to stretch battery life until the end of the activity.
Verdict
GoPro Hero4 is a must buy if you love adventure or extreme sports. Its wide variety of mounting accessories will fit on any activity you do, whether underwater, or in the skies and anything in between. You will always get the best quality footage of your extreme adventure.
