CRITICS of President Rodrigo R. Duterte finally got what they’ve been wanting for–the big fish. They once asked: “Why only the small ones, the ordinary folks, the poor, etc.?”

I don’t think it was about PRRD’s critics thirsting for more blood. It’s all about taunting our President. PRRD’s critics unwittingly gave away their biases and political leanings. The feeling must be really something when one goes against the tide, like David against Goliath.

But I thirst for blood, vengeance if you may, when a person becomes a victim of drugelated heinous crime like rape and murder. It’s the most normal reaction of man.

The death of the Parojinogs is not going to be the end of their story. But it will send a signal to those who are still into it. “Tokhang” has been done. Many were given a chance to reform, rehabilitate, and they were released back to their respective communities. They should understand that the next move would be the real thing.

Here in our city, there are stories about who are into drugs — the users, pushers and dealers. The big ones live lavish lifestyles and not just look untouchable but they flaunt their power by doing things beyond what’s legal. And the pushers? They’re enjoying the blood and money of their victims.

I challenge our PDEA here to act more aggressively. These are just not talks or mere rumors. Their lifestyles show it all. Check their businesses. Are they making their businesses a camouflage for the real one? Let me tell you this. They are flaunting their wealth and alleged connections.

To the raiding teams don’t rest on your laurels. It’s still a long way to go. Just do your job. There will be criticisms and cries for investigation, legitimate or not. But when against the dregs of our society, just do it. They have no regard for anyone, even children.

The spate of road accidents would have been reason enough for our authorities and government agencies concerned to act. Sadly, nothing is happening. Once in a while, you see “lightning” implementation of this and that but these are always shortlived. There is no follow-up as if these are all for a show.

Let me go back to what they did to the plants of my apo on Ramonal St.-Corrales Ave. If they were serious, how come other areas are still peppered with illegal display of goods and merchandise? How come there are still shanties still on our sidewalks? Is it because they are far from the business centers that they are excused?

How come the used tires are still there when that area could have been good for parking, and so the flow of traffic would not be obstructed?

Are some Eagles untouchables? Don’t blemish your brotherhood by playing favoritism with your “kuyas”. You probably are repeating the mistakes of the Craft.

What’s happening to our traffic lights? Why are many of them not functioning? Why aren’t the people responsible silent on this? Questions are piling up while answers are dwindling. Indeed, people deserve the kind of government officials they elected. Sigh.
