‘Basyang’ affects flower sales in Oro

BAD weather conditions and the threat posed by a storm that weakened into a tropical depression yesterday adversely affected vendors selling flowers in time for today’s celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Milo Navales, a flower arranger at Nic-nic flower shop near the St. Augustine Cathedral, said they did not increase flower prices in the hope that more people would buy from them. But they were wrong — storm “Basyang” was something they did not anticipate.

The average flower prices range from P50 to as much as P500 for every bouquet of roses, the same as last year’s, he said. (nitz arancon)
