FORMER councilor Ma. Lourdes “Candy” Darimbang’s group has hinted of forging an alliance with a well-oiled  political machinery in the city days ahead of the filing of certificates of candidacy for next year’s mid-term elections.

She gave the hint even as Davao Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago or Partido Federal ng Pilipinas reportedly endorsed the ex-councilor to challenge the likely reelection bid of Mayor Oscar Moreno

Darimbang, who is the local chapter chairperson of Hugpong, however said her party has yet to finalize who its standard bearer would be before the week is over.

A losing congressional candidate in the city’s 1st District, Darimbang hinted of forging political alliances here.

“My door is still open for final negotiations which should be amenable and acceptable ka namo nga mga kandidato,” she said.

Incidentally, Hugpong has already coalesced with the Padayon Pilipino, a political party founded and still led by former mayor Vicente Emano together with his children, Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and Councilor Nadya Elipe.

In case of a coalition, Darimbang said she would accept whatever agreement is reached.

“We have a coalition to consider with each party’s stand and proposal that should be respected,” she said.

Darimbang was a former councilor who ran for a seat in the Lower House in 2016. She has refused to accept defeat and has questioned the victory of 1st District Rep. Rolando Uy.

Hugpong is also reportedly behind a supposed plan of Darimbang’s husband Mandangan to seek a city council seat but this could not be confirmed at presstime. Mandangan is a former regional director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
