Drug courier falls in checkpoint in Sulkud

PIGCAWAYAN, Cotabato — A 59-year old man was arrested in a checkpoint at the poblacion of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao after being caught with 30 sachets of suspected shabu in his possession.

According to Police Chief Esmail Madin of the municipality of Sultan Kudarat, a concerned citizen from Barangay Dalumangcob of this town tipped off the authorities that a man on board a big bike passed their barangay carrying with him illegal drugs.

Immediately, the town police led by Madin set up a chokepoint in the poblacion that resulted to the apprehension of Datu Engkong, 59, and a resident of Pagadian City.

Madin told reporters that a .6 grams of a suspected shabu was taken from the suspect. Investigators said that a case of violating RA 9165 was being prepared to be filed against the suspect.

Mayor Shameem Mastura praised the alertness of the police in responding and apprehending drug pushers passing in their area. (Basir G. Alipolo)
