A GRANDSON of a former town mayor shot himself to the head in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental, shocking revelers who came to feast on the food prepared by his family over the weekend.
The suicide was identified as 19-year-old Arthur Sumanpan II. He was the namesake of former Talisayan mayor Arthur Sumanpan.
The young man reportedly pumped a bullet into his head inside his room at Purok 4, Poblacion in Talisayan.
It happened around noontime Saturday when his family was about to serve lunch to guests who came in time for the fiesta activities in the place.
The younger Sumanpan died on the spot.
The former Talisayan mayor said his grandchild committed suicide apparently due to emotional problems.
“Nagkabingkil lang sa uyab maoy cause sa iyang paghikug,” the elder Sumanpan said.
He said the suicide and his girlfriend were seriously talking about their relationship at the sala of the Sumanpan residence. After they ended their conversation, the younger Sumanpan went to his room where he shot himself to the head.
