PO3 Emman Jess Madridano identified the victim as Junrell Gabe, 24, of Barangay Pangayawan, Gitagum town in Misamis Oriental.

Gabe was beyond recognition after he was ran over by the Iligan-bound bus. His blood and internal organs were splattered on the unlit part of the highway.

Madridano said Gabe was on a 110-cc motorcycle from Cagayan de Oro and was headed home in Gitagum when he was hit by a Cagayan de Oro-bound van. The victim was on another lane, counterflowing and attempting to get past a truck.

The van’s driver Dioselio Poyot, 41, of Silanga, Tangub City, said he was going to Tagoloan town to pick up dressed chickens.

Madridano said Gabe passed out on the highway after the first accident, and then a bus with 55 passengers crushed him.

The bus driver, Wilson Sandiego, 27, of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, said, “Namatikdan lang nako nga milagobo ang ilawom sa akong bus, mao tong mihunong ko. Sus, tawo man di-ay!”

Poyot and Sandiego, Parehong were held by the  Laguindingan police for two nights but they were released after an out-of-court settlement, according to Madridano. He said Cagayan G Movers Trucking Inc. and the bus company Super 5 agreed to pay up.
