Ben Contreras .

THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) received a letter from the city government that asked to cut off signals in particular places during a particular periods during the fiesta period. For whatever reason, the NTC didn’t clearly state in their directive to the service providers.

Without such explanation, we cannot think of any other reason than security which is, of course, important to the public. But then again, the public needs to know why and this is where NTC failed to do. NTC cannot just issue a directive without explaining why there was a need to cut off the signal.

How would intelligence work be performed without signal? How would people respond to emergencies? Or, are special people exempted/favored to avail of the signal continuously?

Did the City Information Office come up with a press release about this? I hope it did. Otherwise, it will boil down to overacting.

The weak signal was already frustrating.

Just because the work on the drainage in Kauswagan intersection is done and traffic has come back to normal does not mean that the Department of Public Works and Highways can just sit by and relax. There is so much to be done like completing the whole project so that motorists and residents along the highway can be spared from floodings.

RER Subdivision Phase 1 and 2 get flooded at a slight downpour.  How long has it been? If there are impediments like wirings of PLDT, Cepalco or Parasat, whatever, compel them to do something or else. File a complaint, or a case in court.

Perhaps, DPWH can also be honest enough to say when it runs out of funds.

Some Roads and Traffic Administration enforcers love to play Russian roulette. They apprehend violators when they feel like it. That would have been okay if the apprehension is made when there are no other violators present.

Our authorities do not assert what the law is. A double orange line means absolutely no overtaking. But it is happening every day at the Maharlika Bridge because nobody cares and nobody wants to enforce the law. But how is that possible?

The extreme left lane is supposed to be for those who would turn left, but because of limited time, some motorists who are blocked by those going straight always have this fear of being left behind. Hence, they counterflow (also considered as overtaking) which is illegal. No, don’t blame the jeepneys only, private cars as much guilty as the passenger vehicles.

The volume of vehicles on the bridge makes it difficult for motorists where to position. That’s why when the light turns red, some will squeeze to the left and some to the right. And that makes the flow very slow.

I don’t believe only Doy knows the law and understands the situation. But those who do simply don’t want to do something, not even listening to good counsel.

Okay, it was my niece who was apprehended for counterflowing. I don’t mind that, Ny niece is not capable of paying the fine. The question is, why only her when she was just following others? Can this be contested? According to Doy, yes it can be. But then, my niece would have already paid the fine.

Mr. Oclarit, if this happens again, what would you do? If you are not going to do anything, please resign and let those who can take over.
