Oro, Pagadian city dominate Gingoog’s Duathlon Challenge

It was a battle of nerve between Pagadian’s John Topia of Philippine Standard Insurance team and Malaybalay Bukidnon’s pride Jemarvin Cabilan of team Tribu, two super athletes in their own right in the 1st Mayor Marie Guingona Charter Day Duathlon Challenge 2017  held in Gingoog City last sunday July 23, 2017.

Powerman Topia beat Mt. Kinabalo trail run champ Cabilan and claimed the Overall Champion while Cabilan bags the 1st  runner up. Joenash Alburo of Tri Agusan Butuan got the 2nd runner up rounding up the top 3 overall.

In the Women Open Category , Cagayan de Oro’s finest Jenefer Paloma of Tri Mamba emerged as the overall champion edging Gingoog’s new sensation Danica Rose Peligrino and Hana Diwan Geslaga all of team GUMS. They are all awarded with Cash Prizes and Trophies.

The race was one of the highlight event of the Charter Celebration of the city.

Various duathletes coming from Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Naawan, Medina and Butuan city raced in this challenging distance of 8kms Run , 20kms bike and 5kms Run.

It was well represented by various teams like Tri-Mamba, Tribu, Eght700, GUMS, Naawan Triathlon, Myx Bikers Club, Cyclelogy, Tri Agusan, Knights Triahtlon, Team Elim and team Japorms all from northern mindanao and Caraga regions.

Aside from triahtlon , duathlon is also an emerging mutli-sports in the country today.
