“DON’T vote for those who rejected the appointment of Gina Lopez.”

This, according to Mayor Oscar Moreno, is what supporters of former Environment Secretary Regina Lopez can do as a “counter-measure” against members of the Commission on Appointments who voted against her appointment.

While CA members can be criticized, Moreno said their collective decision cannot be reversed.

“That is their discretion, you cannot question that,” Moreno, a former congressman, pointed out.

He said this even as he doubted allegations that the CA members were influenced by “lobby money,” adding that he was convinced they voted out of their “personal convictions.”

It was President Duterte who first made this allegation.

Moreno said he agreed with Sen. Panfilo Lacson who said the allegation was “inappropriate and improper.”

“Lisud man gud nga i-accuse nimo nga na-ay lobby money tungod kay wala ka malipay sa resulta. Lisud  kaayo,” he said.

Moreno added: “They can be criticized. Answerable sila to the people. Pero they cannot be questioned nga usbon ang ilang decision. And their decision is entitled to respect.”

Moreno said what disappointed citizens can do is reject those who voted against Lopez’s appointment in the next elections.

“Sa sunod election, ayaw na sila botari. Ma-o ra man na ang imong counter measure,”  he said. (nitz arancon)
