Carmen police chief Demver Vergara identified one of the suspects as 40-year old Jeofrey Siera of Barangay 7.

Councilor Nacaya said Siera served as his driver for about a year until he was directed to report back to the City Public Services Office in September last year.

“Let the law take its course,” Nacaya said.

The councilor said he did not suspect Siera to be dealing drugs, adding that the suspect was “OK” when he was assigned to him.

Vergara said police arrested Siera who was caught allegedly selling drugs along JR Borja Street in Barangay 7 at around 7:25 pm Friday.

Vergara said Siera yielded four sachets of suspected shabu and P2 thousand in marked money.

The suspect was brought to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s Maharlika headquarters for detention. Police said the suspect would be charged tomorrow, the first working day this week.

Earlier, police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 37-year old traffic aide Nelson Remontigue Jr. during a raid on Burgos-del Pilar streets.

Remontigue, a resident of Biasong, Macasandig, was caught by members of Camp Alagar’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and PDEA agents at around 5:10 pm.

Chief Insp. Alenor Pantao, who lead the raid, said Remotigue, a member of city hall’s Roads and Traffic Administration, was caught in the act of using suspected shabu.

Pantao said another suspect managed to evade arrest.

Remotigue allegedly yielded a sachet of suspected shabu and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Carmelito Deloso, RTA traffic information officer, said traffic aides were always being warned to keep away from illegal drugs.

“In fact, kada Sabado naa gani mi giingon nga values reformation and training session but mga gahi gyug ulo,” Deloso said.

City administrator Teodoro Sabugaa said he would check if Siera and Remontigue have ever been subjected to drug tests at city hall.

He advised other city hall workers who may be into drugs to submit themselves for rehabilitation.

“Mas maayo pa in ana nalang. Ayaw nag hulati nga madakpan pa mo kay kung mahitabo na di na gyud mo matabangan sa syudad,” Sabugaa said.
