Rosemarie Bajao, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 10, said the official, Hussein Magandia, tested positive for drug use together with his son Aktar.

Magandia and his son were arrested along with the provincial board member’s wife Norhaina and son-in-law Amienquailed Dimal, a former barangay chairman, during a raid carried out by the PDEA and the police in Tubod, Iligan City based on a search warrant.

The PDEA alleged that the raid resulted in the seizure of P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu (500 grams), a caliber .38 caliber revolver, electronic gadgets, and some documents.

Bajao said the suspects were supposed to be charged in court yesterday but it did not push through because of an Iligan holiday.

PDEA-Armm director Juvenal Azurin said although none of the suspects were in President Duterte’s so-called “narco list,” the suspects were subjected to surveillance because there were intelligence reports about their alleged drug links.
