HOW many words can you form out of the word “appeal”?

There’s the word “plea” which has the same meaning as, uh, appeal?

And there’s the word “pale” which your face can turn into if the plea is not granted.

Look further and there’s the word “ale” which you can drink to appease the pain of rejected pleas. And rejection can make your face paler than hair that has turned white upon learning about the rejected plea.

Then, there’s “app” which you can click, hoping for more tips on how to appeal.

There are so many ways to occupy city hall’s No. 1 throne, now na.

But if you have the patience to wait, there’s May 9, 2016. Unless you’ve been hibernating in Siberia, you should know by now that May 9, 2016 is Election Day in the Philippines.

No, not erection! Election! Gosh. Priorities, people, priorities. The Philippine population is way beyond what the national treasury can support from birth to death, so, please…

May 9, 2016 is the day when Cagayanons will have the opportunity to elect the best person to occupy that throne at city hall. And to have selective amnesia for politicians and political candidates they don’t want to see and hear from forever and ever.

However, there’s a way to dethrone someone and that is to be nosy about the work of the guy who’s presently occupying that throne, hoping to find mistakes in the way he has been accomplishing his role on that throne. Or how he has been repairing that throne, renovating it, or knocking it down and building a new one. Like as if all the other occupiers before him were saints with work as perfect as that of gods.

So, you continue looking for other words that you can form out of appeal. There’s leap, for the leap of faith you will need for the case filed against the incumbent throne occupier, hoping it will somehow bear fruit and convince Cagayanons to leap with you.

The violets and oranges have allegedly joined forces to kick the yellow incumbent mayor out of that throne. But the orange team leader has denied this accusation and is now saying that kicking the mayor out right now is, well, so not right.

If you’re not a Cagayanon, here’s Politics 101 for you. Cagayan de Oro has four political colors: yellow, violet, orange and green. And I gotta feeling that this list follows each team’s present range of influence in the city, with yellow leading the pack and green not much leading the pack since the latter’s web is more focused on Barangay Carmen where its team leader’s family is kind of influential.

But green has agreed to team up with yellow and the green team leader’s son is even running for vice mayor under the yellow team. Yellow can be too bright and green can be boring but if you combine the two–voila!

Now that violet and orange are rumored to be playing beautiful music together, let’s hope they’re not recording a duet of yellow’s favorite song, “What a Wonderful World.”

But if they want a wonderful world, they should wait for May 2016 then, otherwise people would suspect they’re so eager to dethrone or to occupy the throne. But is dethroning someone equivalent to an eagerness in occupying that throne? Or is it simply kicking the incumbent out of that throne and bahala na si Batman on who will replace him?

“Pea” is one more word you can form out of appeal. For example: Violet and orange are like two peas in a pod.

Violet and orange will then look at each other and exclaim, Nope, we’re not! And from city hall, you will hear the yellow team’s peals of laughter: Bwahahaha! Aminin!

Peal–one more word you can also form out of appeal. Hmmm. Appear!
