District Engineer Aly Khan U. Ali said civil works will start immediately after since the project has already been awarded to N.B. Salvo Construction.

The project is one of the priorities introduced by Rep. Frederick W. Siao and included in the DPWH Budget in the General Appropriations Act of 2019.

According to the billboard posted by the Department of Public Works and Highways, the project costs P68,323,588.45 and scheduled to be completed in 299 days.

Ali said that once the project is finished Iliganons could spend their leisure hours strolling along the banks of the river.

In his speech, Siao said the project is part of his plans for tourism development in the city.

The project is strategically located near the bridge under construction over Bayog Island which when finished would connect Barangay Santa Felomina and the Coastal Road in Barangay Santiago. It would offer a panoramic view of Bayog Island and upstream of Mandulog River to the Bridge on the national highway and beyond.

Assistant District Engineer Maria B. David said the coastal road would reach Barangay Buruun when completed. However, it would take some time in the future since the project depends on annual allocations in the General Appropriations Act of the national government.
