When the task force members opened the delivery van, they noticed styrofoam boxes filled with marinated milkfish.

Annabelle Ricalde, a member of the task force, said the pork was mixed with marinated milkfish when the vehicle was flagged down.

Ricalde said the meat products were supposed to be delivered to a store in the city. She added the cargoes came from Ecoland in Davao City.

“Although, the meat is free of ASF it was still decided by the meat division at the City Veterinary Office and the National Veterinary Quarantine Service to be disposed of,” Ricalde said.

Ricalde said the driver of the vehicle failed to show a shipping permit and a certification from the National Meat Inspector Service.

The confiscated meat products were brought to this city’s animal shelter in Barangay Balubal to be buried.
