AUTHORITIES on Wednesday arrested a second suspect in the Monday encounter in Libertad, Misamis Oriental.
But Capt. Rham Camelotes, Libertad Police Chief, declined to identify the suspect for police reasons. He said police were still pursuing the remaining suspects.
Camelotes said they arrested the suspect at around 4:20 pm, Wednesday, in Sitio Lirupan, Barangay Poblacion in Libertad town.
He said the suspect confessed to taking part in the shootout on Monday evening in Barangay Dolong that resulted in the death of his companion, Jephone Tinamisan, and S/Sgt. Ronald Caayupan.
The encounter also wounded CM/Sgt. Fernando Maestrado and a bystander named Gemma Patlunag.
Camelotes said the suspect was scheduled to be brought to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Initao for inquest proceedings yesterday afternoon.
