STARTING early this morning, Zone 10 in Barangay Carmen had been sealed off by the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) to allow the City Health Office to intensify contact-tracing operations in the area following the death of one of its residents who tested positive for Covid-19.

Mayor Oscar Moreno called on residents there to fully cooperate with the CHO team led by its resident epidemiologist, Dr. Joselito Retuya, by providing information that would help them identify and immediately isolate people with the acute respiratory and influenza-like illnesses.

“Based on the same protocols used in the case of Sitio Pinikitan (where Patient 6783 came from) and upon recommendation by the health authorities, I ordered the city police to cordon or seal off Zone 10, Barangay Carmen. I ask the residents to please cooperate with the police and stay at home. We will monitor your situation regularly and to those who knew the (Carmen) patient, please cooperate with the CHO,” Mayor Moreno said.

Maj. Ivan Vinas, Cocpo spokesman, said the Carmen police precinct chief was ordered to coordinate with the CHO, the barangay health workers and the barangay health emergency response team (Bhert) in conducting intensified house-to-house contact-tracing to identify people with symptoms for either home quarantine or quarantine in one of the city’s 88 isolation units.
