FIFTY-two doctors, nurses, and other health workers of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) who were feared exposed to Covid-19 all tested negative for the virus, City Health Office epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said this morning.

The health workers were quarantined and swabbed after they were seen to be at “moderate risk” because of the confinement of a 21-year-old road accident victim from Barangay Lumbia who tested positive for Covid-19 days after undergoing spine surgery at NMMC. The patient, the 4th resident on record to have been infected with Covid-19, died May 6.

Dr. Retuya said the test results came from the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.

Meanwhile, Retuya said members of the deceased patient’s family and other people identified to have had close contact with the young man have agreed to submit to Covid-19 tests. (Abigail Malalis of CIO)
