Another case is an overseas worker from Barangay Bulua who tested positive for Covid-19 in Manila.

Five family members of the woman from Dabatian Street in Carmen who died on June 7 tested positive this morning, confirmed Dr. Joselito Retuya, city hall’s epidemiologist.

Those who tested positive for Covid-19 in the Xpert Express PCR tests were the father and four siblings of the deceased woman, a market vendor.

“The five are all asymptomatic, and were already confined at the city isolation unit,” Retuya said.

Dr. Retuya also reported that the 60-year-old overseas worker, a resident of Barangay Bulua, was found Covid-19-infected when he was tested in Pasig, Metro Manila.

He said the worker was about to report back to his work in Indonesia when he took the RT-PCR test in Pasig.

Retuya said the worker arrived in Cagayan de Oro from Indonesia on March 12.

He said the worker is now quarantined at a condominium in Pasig.

“He was quarantined for 14 days after he arrived here last March 12 and was later released after he showed no symptoms,” Retuya said.

Retuya said he complied with all the necessary travel papers when he reported back for work on June 10.

With the six new Covid-19 cases, the Cagayan de Oro City Health Office said there are now nine active cases in the city.

City Health Office chief Lorraine Nery said the three other cases are: the 25-year-old student from Cebu City; the 49-year-old female resident from Barangay Kauswagan, this city and the 59-year-old female patient from Sitio Macanhan in Barangay Carmen this city. (Froilan Gallardo)
