As indicated in a Covid-19 briefer of the Department of Health in Region 10 last night, the 50 new cases consisted of 27 people who caught the virus from local transmissions and 23 from infections from other places either in the country or abroad.

Among five provinces, Lanao del Norte, which posted 37 fresh cases yesterday, has the most confirmed infections with 226 cases, 16 of these were traced to local transmissions while 19 are “returning overseas Filipinos” and “locally stranded individuals,”

Cagayan de Oro, the region’s capital, has the highest number of cases with 229 among 14 local governments, 80 of these are still active cases though only 10 come from locally-transmitted infections, including three yesterday.

Lanao del Norte’s Iligan City has eight more new Covid-19 patients, seven of which from community transmissions, bringing its local infections to 111, of which 93 residents remain infectious. Fifty-seven of the city’s 168 confirmed cases are “ROF/LSI.”

Cases elsewhere are Misamis Oriental (140), Misamis Occidental (128), Bukidnon (122), and Camiguin (8). Three new cases were tagged to Bukidnon and one to Misamis Oriental, yesterday.

So far, among nine cities in the region and 146 nationwide, only El Salvador remains Covid-free.

Of the region’s 1,023 cumulative cases, 238 are categorized as local cases (including authorized persons outside residence) and 785 are either ROF or LSI.

Classified active cases are 481 patients, who tested positive in reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction tests, and are either in hospitals or in temporary treatment and monitoring facilities.

There were 527 persons, confirmed Covid-19 cases, who have recovered or 52% of the region’s total cases, 10 of them just yesterday. But there were 15 who, with underlying health conditions, had succumbed to Covid-19.
