MARAWI City ―The modified enhanced community quarantine status implemented here due to threats of coronavirus disease did not hamper the simultaneous construction of infrastructure projects inside and outside the most affected area (MAA) of the city.
For infrastructures outside MAA, the construction of transitory shelters, Marawi Police Station, Salintubig water reservoir, correctional facility, trans central roads, and permanent shelters are ongoing.
The construction of the Philippine National Police – Community Police Assistance Center 1 was completed in 2018 while the Marawi Fire Substation was completed in 2019.
Ongoing construction for remaining transitory shelter units in barangays Sagonsongan, Boganga, Rorogagus, and Dulay are ongoing and are targeted to be completed in November 2020.
Meanwhile, inside MAA, the rehabilitation of the Mapandi bridge was completed in 2019 while the Banggolo Bridge in September 2020. The construction of the maritime outpost was also completed in July 2020.
Infrastructure projects that are ongoing include Marawi Museum, four-story school building, School of Living Tradition, Peace Memorial Park, Grand Padian Market, and barangay complexes in barangays Moncado Kadingilan, Tolali, Lumbaca Madaya, Datu Naga, Sangkay Dansalan, West Marinaut, South Madaya, and Dansalan.
Task Force Bangon Marawi chairman Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario on Sunday reiterated the commitment of the Task Force to complete the rehabilitation of the city within the term of the president.
“With regards to Marawi, I reiterate that we will finish the rehabilitation of public infrastructures within the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. This is in compliance with the specific instruction of the President who said ‘I will see to it that Marawi will rise as a prosperous city again,’” he said.
The TFBM chairman emphasized that the massive rehabilitation and reconstruction works inside and outside MAA continues along with the provision of livelihood support and financial assistance for the affected families.
TFBM is composed of 56 government agencies implementing various projects, programs, and activities for the rehabilitation of the city and the affected communities.
The construction of the infrastructure projects is funded through the National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management – Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Program. (PIA-10)
