A GROUNDBREAKING of P20-million road project by the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) in Caraga region was held Friday in Brgy Mahaba, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, military officials said Saturday.

Army’s 401st Brigade civil-military officer 1st Lieutenant Romalyn C. Isaga said it commenced the construction of the 1/333 kilometer farm-to-market road with two-lane concrete pavement.

Isaga said the road project will benefit 290 households of Sitio Sumobay and Sitio Lubo all of Barangay Mahaba.

“Lahat na Barangay na binigyan ng road projects ng NTF ELCAC were all cleared barangays,” said Army’s 4th Infantry Division public affairs chief Major Francisco Garello.

Garello said the area was former geographically isolated and disadvantaged area and now an insurgency-cleared barangay.

Meanwhile, the project, according to Isaga was under the local government support fund, a support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) that will help farmers access their farms and transport farm goods.

Barangay Mahaba chairman Delino S. Delabahan expressed his utmost appreciation to the provincial and city governments of Agusan del Norte, ELCAC Officials, to the police and the military units.

“Sa atong mga bisita, ang Barangay Mahaba nalipay ug dako nga ang kalsada nga dugay na namong gipangandoy, karon niabot na. Kani nahitungod sa pagbalik namo sa sabakan sa gobyerno ug pag undang sa pag suporta ngadto sa pikas nga grupo,” said Delabahan.

Delabahan even urged his constituents to continue ending their support to the NPA rebels, so that the government will continue building more roads in their area.

Present during the ground breaking were provincial hovernor Dale V Corvera; City mayor Judy Chin Amante; Assistant Director Rene V Valera and Concurrent Director of EO70 Project Management Office; Brigadier General Allan D Hambala, 401st Brigade Commander; officials of PLGU, and the DILG provincial and regional offices.

Prior to the ground breaking ceremony, the Department of Interior and Local Government Caraga initiated a Leveling Session dubbed as Harmonization of the community support program and Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) process and its implementation hosted by Cabadbaran City and Agusan del Norte to ensure the smooth implementation of RCSP).
