Just less than an hour responding police operatives were able to arrest the suspect at his residence in Barangay Puerto. The latter denied his involvement in the killing

Police Master Sgt. Olympio Ranulo, assigned at Tablon police station, identified the victim as Mark Fernandez, residing at Zone 6 of the said barangay.

The incident happened at about 6 pm along Zone 6 of the same barangay.

Fernandez was connected at AG Wood Supply as a laborer.

The suspect has been identified as Edwin Molejon, 47, residing at Barangay Puerto, this city, and a security guard assigned at one of the establishments in Tablon.

Police theorized the victim was shot at closed range. The suspect shot him only once at the back as the entry point the same bullet exited to his chest that caused Fernandez’s death.

One of the victim’s companions, a minor, was also hit to his left arm from the same bullet that killed the victim.

He immediately received treatment by the responding police medics and he is now reportedly already out of danger.

Prior to the shooting, Ranulo said, Fernandez was talking with some friends.

Then the group decided to leave the place for home. While walking, suddenly the trigger man appeared from behind and without a word shot him.

The victim, though already wounded, was still able to run to the other side of the highway where he dropped to the ground unconscious.

The suspect, Ranulo said, may have used a .38 caliber revolver in the killing of Fernandez.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives failed to find the bullet at the crime scene.

Police investigators are considering a love triangle as the possible motive of the killing.

It was learned that Fernandez was having an affair with his co-worker who already had a live-in partner ― a security guard.

But it was also learned from the police that the victim and the said woman were already separated for months already and that they have not talked to each other since then.

Ranulo said, that in early December last year Fernandez had already been receiving death threats.

Kanang pagpanghinadlok sa iya, iya pud nang gipang estorya sa iyang mga close friends. Wala hinoon siya nagsaba kinsa ang gapanghinadlok sa iya (Fernandez),” Ranulo said.

For his part, Molejon told police he is innocent of the crime and that he does not even know the victim.

He was just surprised upon seeing policemen coming to his house and arresting him. He said he was about to report to CCTC where he was assigned.

He told police investigators he was at Puerto market buying something when the supposed shooting incident occurred.

He also said that how could he be the suspect when he does not even have an issued firearm as a security guard.

As of this writing, Molejon is temporarily detained at Cugman Police Station for further investigation.
