ILIGAN City ― Security plans are already in place for the inauguration and oath-taking of the incoming city officials led by mayor-elect Frederick Siao in the city public plaza.

Yesterday, Police Maj. Zandrex Panolong, the spokesperson of the city police, told reporters that around 150 to 200 police officers will be deployed within the city on Thursday.

Soldiers from the Philippine Army will also assist in securing the event, he added. Traffic will also be controlled on that day as there will be some rerouting, he said.

The rerouting of vehicles, he said, will be along the area of the Philippine National Bank at Aguinaldo street even as he assured commuters that they will still be “comfortable.”

Meanwhile, the head of the K-9 unit, June Garcia told reporters yesterday that on the dawn of the said day their team would “sanitize” the area so as to make it safe for the said event.

It was also learned that “no backpacks are allowed” in the area even as it was not clear whether cellphone signals would be jammed.
