IT took a day and one night after he committed the crime of stabbing suspect Elmer Bachinicha to surrender to the police.

The 46-year-old Bachinicha, after a successful negotiation, gave himself up to the police who located his whereabouts in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental province early today.

He was subsequently turned over to the Macabalan Police Station in Cagayan de Oro.

Homicide charges will be filed against Bachinicha who knifed to death his friend Andres Llansana on Monday dawn at his place in Cyril, Barangay Puntod this city.

“The case has already been solved,” Police Lt. Col. Surki Sereñas told Gold Star Daily as he lauded the responding policemen for the peaceful surrender of Bachinicha.

The victim, who rented a place in Puntod owned by the suspect, ran a vulcanizing shop and a vegetable store after he separated from his wife long ago.

Amo na lang gipasagdan si papa nga makigpuyo og lain sa Puntod kay mao man iyang kalipay,” said Llansana’s son Ivan.

Llansana was last seen having a drinking spree with Bachinicha near his shop when his dead body was discovered, sustaining a fatal stab wound on his neck.

Ivan said his father was known to be friendly but would become “loud” and “noisy” when under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

Llansana’s family is currently holding his wake at the Bollozos Funeral Parlor in Barangay Bulua.
