AUTHORITIES are still in rescue and retrieval operations in searching for the five individuals who were allegedly buried alive due to a landslide at the height of a heavy downpour Monday in Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon.

Police Col. Reynante Reyes, the police provincial director, identified the victims as Lucrecio Lauronal, 54, farmer, and his wife Angelina Lauronal 52, housewife, both residents of Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon.

They were inside their house when the tragedy took place.

While the three other victims were also identified as Nerio Talines, married, a backhoe loader operator; Raffy Simprota, married, a dump truck driver; and Jordan Achas, a dump truck helper, all residing at Barangay Kalingking of the same town.

They were employed by the local government of the town working on the roadside.

Police personnel of Malitbog police station, led by Police Lt. Danilo Sabornido, Jr., immediately proceeded to the place of the incident.

It was learned that the three victims were in a clearing operation in the area when a landslide happened.

A report revealed that a big portion of the mountain fronting the barangay road slid that totally covering all the victims.

Malitbog police in coordination with the Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Health office personnel, and 16th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army continue their search and retrieval operations as of this writing.
