Photographing a festival can be challenging and a rewarding endeavor, as it requires you to be early to scout the best spots to photograph, capturing the energy, atmosphere, and spirit of the event in a creative and dynamic way.

Some key considerations for festival photography include preparing for the weather, low light conditions, and a camera system that you’re familiar with so that you can anticipate and capture candid moments and unexpected events.

Photographing festivals has always had a profound impact on me, and maybe on society as well, from the way we photograph these moments, to the way we understand the stories and interpret them. Photography allows us to see and appreciate moments that we might not otherwise be able to see, and it gives us the ability to capture and preserve that frame. Photos and text by Glenn Palacio
