AUTHORITIES seized almost half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu from a 33-year-old embalmer during a buy-bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City at 9 pm, Tuesday.

Police Major Aldren Baculio, City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) chief, identified the suspect as Romy Bagting alias ‘Mik-Mik,’ single, and a resident of Zone 8, Barangay Carmen, here.

The suspect is connected to one of the mortuaries in the city.

Confiscated from the suspect were three sachets containing a white crystalline substance, suspected to be shabu put in a white cellular phone box.

The confiscated contraband has an estimated street value of P408,000 weighing 60 grams and P1,000 bust-bust money.

Baculio said that before the arrest, his team’s poseur buyer could purchase a sachet of suspected illegal drugs worth P1,000 from Bagting.

The suspect denied he owned the confiscated drugs saying, he has never been into it.

The CDEU head said the suspect got the illegal drugs from other prominent sources in the city. However, he did not elaborate.

Baculio said the suspect was the one who would distribute the drugs mainly to drivers and his friends.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Maharlika Jail pending the filing of appropriate charges.
