THE booming town of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental used to be hosting local chess competitions during the political domain of the Emanos in the province.
Now back in power with the daughter of the late political kingpin Vicente ‘Dongkoy’ Emano reigning in, Tagoloan has proudly announced the staging of an Individual Rapid chess event for students and team Tatluhan on Saturday, February 11.
Dubbed as “1st Mayor Nadya Emano-Elipe FIDE Rated Chess Tournament,” it will be played at the Tagoloan Dome with close to P30,000 in total cash prizes plus trophies and medals awaiting the winners.
“Uban sa Tagoloan Chess Club, lipay kita nga nabalik ang pa-torneyo sa chess sa province with the support of Mayor Nadia Emano-Elipe. We can only hope nga magpadayon kini nga development sa uban nga munisipyo,” Ben Wabe of the organizing Golden Chess Friends told Gold Star Daily.
The day-long tourney has not allowed onsite registration as it sets February 8 as the deadline for accepting entries.
