WITH Cagayan de Oro City known as the ‘gateway to Northern Mindanao,’ it is set to fling its gates wider.

THE Philippines’ largest end-to-end logistics, transportation, and distribution solutions provider and a part of SM Investments Corporation, 2GO, is set to maximize the movement of goods to and from Mindanao.

It aims to increase business prospects for local enterprises and corporations across the region, boosting its operations in the city.

Being equidistant and accessible to other metropolis in the region, Cagayan de Oro City holds a strategic economic edge for local growth. 2Go gains a foothold in retail trade, manufacturing sector, motor vehicle industry, and service, and hospitality landscape in Mindanao.

Apart from the city being an industrial hub, cold chain requirements have increased over the years. It has become the transit point of Bukidnon, supplying 80% of its hatching eggs supply to Metro Manila and a substantial number of poultry and palm oil products to the Visayas islands.

“Cagayan de Oro radiates promise as a dynamic city. A reliable logistics collaborator is integral for a burgeoning economy as it paves the way to becoming a metropolitan center,” said Ralph Paguio, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines-Northern Mindanao.

“Our pier and airport, coupled with strategic location, positions us as a pivotal gateway to other regional cities and the broader Mindanao. 2GO’s presence holds immense potential for transformation and opportunity.”

The city is considered as 2GO’s biggest shipping hub in Mindanao. The company currently operates passage between Cagayan de Oro and Manila four times a week, as well as twice weekly to and from Cebu. It also operates weekly services to Bacolod, Iloilo, and Tagbilaran.

“2GO is the only passenger-cargo operator from Cagayan De Oro to Manila utilizing one of the most modern and fastest vessels in the Philippines. As an archipelago, it is important for traders and consumers to have a reliable supply chain schedule to optimize product shelf life,” Faye Alonzo-Babar, 2GO Business Unit Head for Express and Forwarding, said.

“Moreover, a solid transportation and logistics partner empowers local businesses and industries to move goods and people efficiently and smoothly,” she added.

To celebrate Cagayan de Oro city’s Higalaay Festival, 2GO announced an ₱88 sea sale, which is one-way and inclusive of a 50-kilo baggage allowance.

The promo will run until August 27, with travel dates from October 1, 2023 onwards.
