THE husband of an incumbent barangay chairwoman was killed in a shooting incident involving his wife’s political opponent minutes before the polling started in Butig, Lanao del Sur yesterday.
Lanao del Sur Police Director Col. Robert Daculan said Madid Bao, husband of the Barangay Poktan, Lanao del Sur died along the way to the Amai Pakpak General Hospital.
Daculan said his assailant, a certain Deamael was arrested and the weapon used in the shooting, a Steyr 9mm pistol was confiscated from him.
He said Bao reportedly shot at Deamael but missed prompting the latter to fire back, hitting the victim on the stomach.
