CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy extended a warm welcome to 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez and Vice Mayor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez at his office on Friday morning.

The visit came after Rep. Rodriguez led a historic trail walkthrough with regional and city tourism officials.

This initiative aimed to promote the city’s historical sites and cultural heritage.

Uy and the Rodriguez siblings were not political allies in the previous 2022 election.

However, during the meeting, Mayor Uy expressed his gratitude to Vice Mayor Rodriguez for the city council’s support of his administration, stating, “Sinugdanan na kini,” which signified the beginning of a positive collaboration between their respective groups.

Despite this, Uy did not confirm an official alliance for the 2025 local election, indicating a focus on fostering good relations with the Rodriguezes.

In response, Rep. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of actions over words, symbolically holding hands with Mayor Uy.

He also commended Mayor Uy for the city government’s receipt of several awards, notably the City’s Seal of Local Good Governance Award.

Rep. Rodriguez highlighted Mayor Uy as the lone mayor in the entire country to be listed as one of the awardees, showcasing the city’s exemplary governance.

The meeting between Mayor Uy and the Rodriguez siblings marked a step towards collaboration and potential political realignment.

This engagement hinted at the possibility of a significant shift in the upcoming local election.

The positive tone of the meeting has left the city’s residents curious about the future impact of this potential collaboration on the city’s development.

The visit and subsequent discussions between the Mayor and the Rodriguezes have generated optimism among the city’s residents, who eagerly anticipate the potential outcomes of this newfound collaboration.

This promising development has sparked hope for a more unified and progressive future for Cagayan de Oro City, as the city’s leaders work towards common goals for the benefit of its citizens.
