CAGAYAN de Oro City’s Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 98 commenced its 2024 tax campaign on February 27.

This year, they are promoting the theme “Sa Tamang Buwis, Pag-asenso’y Mabilis,” which means “With the Right Taxes, Progress is Swift.”

The initiative is designed to rally the community of taxpayers to support the country’s economic resurgence and development.

Emphasizing the importance of timely and correct tax payments is a key aspect of the campaign.

Monib Dimalomping, the Revenue District Officer, underscored the campaign’s objective to increase awareness around the responsibilities associated with taxes, remarking on the legal and moral imperatives of tax payment for all citizens.

Dimalomping outlined the BIR’s commitment to precise tax calculation and collection, along with their dedication to delivering exemplary service to taxpayers.

He further highlighted the duty of tax consultants to provide sound and accurate guidance to their clientele.

Dimalomping spoke of the campaign as a symbol of the cooperative bond between the government and its taxpayers, which ensures mutual support and protection, reinforcing the importance of tax compliance.

The significant impact of taxes on the funding of public services and infrastructure was a focal point of Dimalomping’s discussion, emphasizing the necessity for taxpayers to remit the accurate amounts for the efficient operation of government functions.

The campaign launch also introduced a new logo and jingle.

The logo, depicting a radiant sun, signifies optimism for the future and represents the solidarity between the government and its people, with the BIR emblem at the heart, symbolizing their collective commitment to the nation and adherence to tax laws.

Additionally, the logo incorporates an arrow in the patriotic colors of the Philippine flag, signifying a path of steady and significant advancement.

Revenue Region No.16 Director Emir Abutazil urged all taxpayers under the jurisdiction of RDO 98 to actively engage with the tax campaign, aligning with the national government’s Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) vision.

The event was well-attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from local Chambers of Commerce and Industries, tax professionals, and withholding agents from across Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental.
